Alan and Norma Millar dominated the Scottish senior ballroom competition field for over 20 years during which time they won every championship at some time or another and in earlier years were Scottish Amateur Latin Champions. They represented Scotland internationally at world championships throughout Europe and North America reaching the semi-final of the first ever World Senior Ballroom Championship. They were twice runners-up and 3 times winners of the British National Senior o/50's Ballroom Championship and were finalists in the British National Ballroom and Latin American Championships.
When they retired from the amateur competitive ranks in December 2006 to turn professional they were undefeated Scottish National Amateur Ballroom Champions, 5 times Scottish Open Senior Ballroom Champions and 21 times Scottish National Senior Ballroom Champions.
Alan and Norma were fortunate to have been coached over the years by some of the top coaches in the country namely Harry and Helene Rollins, Eric Lashbrooke and latterly Jack and Anne Reavely and now enjoy passing on the vast knowledge gained under these coaches to dancers of all grades from beginners to champions in the studios they operate from within the East Central belt of Scotland where they have taken their coaching into the local communities in their use of community centres and local facilities.
Since turning professional Alan & Norma have studied assiduously and are both now qualified Fellows in both the Ballroom and Latin American Branches of the United Kingdom Alliance, one of the worlds leading professional dance teaching bodies and are qualified Championship Adjudicators in both Ballroom and Latin American Dance styles
